| Matsuda Bonsai Nursery
The Matsuda Bonsai Nursery, owned and operated by Hiroshi "Hiro" Matsuda, is a full service Bonsai Nursery located in northern California.  The nursery is located at: 4880 Virginiatown Road, Newcastle, CA 95658, and is open Thursday thru Saturday from 10am to 5pm, or by appointment by calling ahead. View Larger Map The nursery covers several acres and contains well over 3500 trees from seedlings to show quality, with every size in between, and covering every price
range.
The nursery also has a large studio where Hiro holds his classes and workshops throughout the year.  The classes range in size from 1 to 30 students. Individuals can arrange for a private class by emailing Hiro at: matsubonsai@sbcglobal.net or by calling him at 916-645-1820. Workshops on specific Bonsai subjects are also available, and are held at various times during the year, and are a richly rewarding experience. If you belong to a Bonsai club or other group, Hiro can arrange for a nursery tour and/or a special workshop geared to the needs of the club's members. The Bonsai Experience: A hands-on introduction to the art of Bonsai. Learn everything you need to create and keep a Bonsai healthy. The class concludes with the making of a personal Bonsai to keep. A well trained plant and all materials necessary to create a Bonsai are included. Two hours with Bonsai and printed handout $65.00 Bonsai Classes: A more detailed study of Bonsai. Select from: Evergreen Bonsai, Decidous Bonsai, Rock Planting, Free Style, or Shohin Bonsai classes. Each two hour class includes all material to complete a project, including a plant and ceramic container $75.00 Bonniwa: learn to make a miniature Japanese Tea Garden in a tray. The class includes the history and philosophy of a traditional tea garden, but the bulk of the time is allotted to the making of a garden. All of the materials are well prepared by Hiro, so in a very short time, every student will have a nice miniature tea garden to take home. Two hours, including a tray, and plants $125.00 Individual Bonsai Workshop: the best way to customize your Bonsai study. Bring in your own project and questions. Get professional assistance and instruction from Hiro. Two hours - materials extra $30.00 Bonsai by the Season: A monthly lecture series addressing the particular need of the Bonsai for the month. Two hour meeting on the third Saturday morning of the month - 10 AM to noon. Two hour class with a special discount on plants or Bonsai purchases $20.00 Want more classes?
